Jaisalmer Airport

Completed 2013

The Jaisalmer Airport is an engineering contract. As the airport planning laid down the functional footprint, the three dimensional architectural and structural quality of the building was developed by the consultants.

The new airport terminal covers an area of 7000 sqm. Set to the rhythm of sand dunes, the roof line resonates the desert imaginary. Accentuating the arrivals from the city and air side, the roof mirrors itself to create an animated composition in the desertscape. The façade, in keeping with the context becomes a double skin wrap of GRC jallis and glass, forming a base for the animated form and rekindling suggestions of tradition/ modernity. The roof structure comprises of curvilinear trusses spanning 65m placed at 10m intervals.
